The water is rising slowly, so it was time to get out!

Took a few different trips, taking the bass tournament junkies out for a little recon mission. Stopped and marked much of the specialty structure that the bass like, and got an idea where certain things are in the bottom of the lake. Its interesting to see all the different perspectives of the shorelines, where the mudflats are, etc etc.

Spent some time over 2 days lookin for trout. First day I was shown up horribly by a Marine buddy of mine. Seems that he took my normal cowbell setup for trolling, added a 12" leadered bait hook, and a big glob of worm, and got to it. I took out one of my lesser-quality flasher trains and hung a daredevle out past it (effective in the past) with about 1/2 oz of weight to get it in the strike zone. B's line was literally within a foot of the surface with no weight. Any guesses who hooked up?

He took home 3 17"+ rainbows in about 2 hrs of fishing. I got nada.

Trolled again the following day for an hour or so, but with cloudier, cooler weather. Had some nibbles and strikes, but nothing stuck and nothing was boated.

All in all, a nice trip, but its a lengthy run in the little jet sled to the Long Lake dam from Suncrest. Burnt some gas, but had a good time. Looking forward to the lake filling!
