I fished Banks Lake labor day with my dad. My dad and I fished the mornings and one evening. The first day we fished from 8-12:30 am and started out trolling for walleyes with a bottom bouncing rig and double whammy with a night crawler. We trolled from Coulee Playland to the mouth of Osbourne Bay. Unfortunately we didn't catch any walleye. My Dad managed to get a nice fat 14 or 15 inch rainbow but all I got was 3 perch. We decided to go for some faster action so we hit the shoreline for some smallies. We fished for smallmouths for about an hour and a half and caught about 15 using nightcrawlers. They were between 12 to 17 inches but my dad caught a nice 20 incher probably a little more than 3 1/2 pounds. We returned the same night fishing for only about an hour and caught only 5 because the wind was so intense. The next day we tried for walleyes again with no luck and then fished until 2:30 for smallies we caught about 25 all about the same size but some smaller than the day before. We also tried for largemouths earlier in the day and only caught one small one of 9 inches or so. Banks seems to have lots of good largemouth cover in the bays but the water level looks very low because most of the reeds are out of the water and the water is very clear and shallow all there seems to be in there is huge carp. Anyways all in all a pretty good weekend for fishing.
