We fished until I smoked my Electric Trolling Motor, but three of us had a great time.

The water at the inlet is muddy, and Crab Creek is now the "Great muddy and fast river". You can tell that the mud is mixing at the entrance, and I expect that it will start to move down lake fast. In general, the lake is almost clear at the outlet, getting progressively "green" as you move upstream.

The water temperatures ranged from 38 deg. F to 42 degrees. The fish were a bit confused to say the least. We had a lot of followers that turned at the last minute. We had a couple that actually jumped from the water to try to stop the lure from getting away as we lifted it from the water. I had two where I hung up on a bush at the shore and gave the lure a tug to get it free; the browns hammered the lure as it hit the water, one a foot from shore, the other about 15' from shore. You might say that most fish were shy, but some were just full of themselves.

We ended up catching 3 rainbows, 30 browns, ranging from 14" to 21". One of our guys that has a lot of trouble getting out kept a limit, but the rest remain with sore mouths but ready for the next trip.

There must have been 30 or more boats trailers at the so called launch when we left. Be advised, this lake is still no easier to get in or out now than it has been in the past. A side note; there is the main launch, the one almost flat, but also two side launches that can be used with 4WD vehicles. The two at the side drop off faster, and work better, IF people do not park in front of them, and IF you don't back too far back. there is a ledge that your wheels can drop off from.

Isn't the inlet to Rock Lake called Rock Creek??

Yes, I got my creeks mixed up. Crab is north of the Freeway and Rock Creek is south, running generally from Chapman Lake to Bonnie to Rock, than through the scab lands; I'm not sure where it ends up.

I believe it ends up emptying into the Palouse River in Southern Whitman County. Have you ever got into Bonnie Lake?

OneEyed, I have never made it to Bonnie Lake. I think my boat is just too big and I don't access to a smaller one. I hope to make it up there some day and check it out though.
