Got there around two, and first cast had a 14" bow on. Second cast, another, but it rolled the hook on me. Wind was up for awhile and it got kinda slow, but once the sun started going down the bite was on. I couldn't keep my line in the water for more than 2 min without having another fish on. By 7pm i had landed 10 fish, between 14 and 16in, and had at least another 10 on that either rolled it or took my bug for a swim. I out fished a cocky oldtimer that was bad mouthing fishing guides (soon to be me), which is always fun. Oh, and i was only fishing from shore, within 10 feet from the boat launch, and about 15 feet from shore, floating 5wt fly line, poly-indicator (yarn), and both black and green chironomids, size 14, with a gold bead head. Awesome combo. I guess the ice just melted a few days ago so the fish were hungry. Another thing, i was pleased to see an older lady that went by the title of "Judy" come off the lake in a pontoon boat, and although cold, she refused any help packing her boat into her car and did it all her self! even though she was older, she had the spirit of a teenager, i wish the best of luck to her. So that concluded my amber lake adventure, I'm moving back to the west side Thursday, so maybe ill get another chance to fish it when I'm not busy with finals. See you all on the water!
waterside,
the trout bum
