Fished "The Rock" three times, March 4th/14th/&17th. Pops and I had never fished this lake. Got on the water at 8am all three trips. First day we trolled near the creek for about three hours with no bites. We decided to move and found a spot about 400 yards long that appeared to be the ticket. Caught 10 fish and off the water by 1pm. Next two days 10 fish and off the water by 11am. All fish caught in less than 15 feet of water. Outside this 400 yard stretch the electronics went blank. Trout must have been feeding on something in the magic spot. 23 browns and 7 bows. Two biggest fish were a 26" and a 20" bow. All other fish were between about 14 and 17 inches. Lots of boats fishing next to us only deeper, and did not appear to be catching much. That's okay, I like it simple, no downriggers or time spent rigging. Just me, the fish, and a lure. Pops was using a 3 1/2" minnow and I was using a 2" lipless crank. If it didn't have orange on the belly you were out of luck. Does anybody know what the bass bite is like on this lake? Looking forward to returning after the water hits 55. If I have the same luck with the largemouth as we did with the trout I don't know if I'll ever leave!
