Hit up Lake Washington from 10am to 3pm fishing with Quadradomous. We had a blast fishing, and fished a new spot near the Sammamish River. Water temp was 46F and air temp was a balmy 58F. I think Quad measured them out, but we caught a total of 9 cutthroats, 2 that shook the hook, and the other 7 went as follows; 19,” 18,” 17,” 16,” 16,” 15,” and 14.” Had one really large hit that just smacked it hard (the lure) and took off...just peeling out tons of line and that was that…that fish shook the hook…we didn’t even get a good look. Overall, great day fishing with Quadradomous; really great guy. He brought along a digital scale and we measured the weight of the fish; something I have always overlooked. They went roughly as follows; 3.0 pounds (even), 2.6 pounds, 1.9 pounds, 1.5 pounds, 1.4 pounds, 1.2 pounds, and .9 pounds. Many of the fish we filleted were female and two fish were sea-run cutts. Quadradomous got a nice bag full of quality fillets; but I cut my fingers in the process. By the way, a really nice gentleman offered two band-aids for my cut fingers that wouldn’t stop bleeding – if you read this – “Thank you sir.” It was one of those “days to remember.” Just one of many…(the pics are of our 7 fish we retained and quad’s two beauties.)

Man you are killin me,

I live on the lake, and have my boat moored there (in an apt with cheap moorage,I'm not rich) I fish the lake alot but not exclusivly,as we fish everywhere from Neah bay to the Columbia. My point is this,I thought I was learning the lake but you are $#@%^&% blowing me out of the water! I got 1 yesterday in the south end of the lake in three hours 19incher,off the sw tip of mercer in 22ft of water wedding ring, silver blade. Kutt, If you wan't to save some gas,and make a friend on the lake get at me bro,I can show you how to consistantly SMASH silvers on the lake come Sept,16th If you don't already know how(all we need is fish in the lake).Like I said,we fish all over,my friends are all cool and if you hook us up,I'm sure we could get you out to Neah or whatever.Again get at me, trophy2301@hotmail.com

Hey man if you have a problem with a legal limit go write a letter to your congressman. If I go 70 mph in a 70 mph zone, are you going to be mad at me for wasting oil?

Sandusk, I really appreciate your efforts to restore spawning habitat.
Obviously LW is doing well from the reports on here. The state allows a current limit of 5 Cutts over 12" in LW. If you think that the limit is too liberal, perhaps you should bring that up to WDFW in the next cycle of rule changes. It also may make a good topic for the posting forums on this site, instead of posting your wishes in someone elses report.
If Kuttkilla was only catching one a trip I don't think anyone would have a problem with it. It seems it is the fact that he is so successful that is upsetting some posters here.
If they shut down the Cutt fishing on LW what is likely to happen? The State will probably start stocking the lake with more inferior Rainbows. They would in turn Compete for food with the Cutts, Steelhead and Salmon. They would also dilute the gene pool which would have severe long term effects.

Dogfish, I have no problems with the current limit or the quantity of fish one guy catches in a day. I am referring to searun cutthroat only. I have no problem with guys keeping 5 cutts, but not five (or any) searun cutts. If there were enough searun cutts in the puget sound area to support a fishery, the state would allow it. The Lake Washington 5 fish limit is intended to apply to cutthroat, not searun cutthroat. I am sure that those fisheries folks in charge realized that some searun cutthroat would be kept (as bycatch), but probably not enough to significantly impact the overall population. As a responsible angler, "Kutthroat killer" should release searun cutts for ethical reasons if nothing else. Especially since he is apparantly educated or savvy enough to differentiate a src from a regular cutt. Just because something is not against the law does not make it ethical.

Sandusk, I see your point thanks for clarifying.
I don't know if one fish is better than the other, or if someone can tell the difference for sure.

Oh my goodness.....I believe the spirit of this site is to share with other anglers their fishing experiences and to enhance others. It is not to get on your soapbox about what "you" feel is ethical, I'm sure there are other sites for that. No Haters Please! If you don't have something nice to say or informative,,,,,please keep your comments to your self. KK is doin his thang out there on the big lake, and anyone who talks down to him is just jealous. Keep doin it Kut and please keep postin your reports, we all love em.

I've got to the point now where posting a report is meaningless. People harrass you, throw names at you, and just give you an all around hard time. I can take it; I am a pretty big dude...but you ask yourself...what's the point of posting if people are going to get irrate about what you are doing, after all it is LEGAL...some people say it's not "ethical" -- but that has nothing to do with this...If I were taking 5 fish every day out of that lake one could *maybe* make a case that I should slow down and let more fish go...No one has the right to come on under the *internet* as some troll and bad-mouth another member; it could be me or anyone else. All it does is just add fuel to the fire...I guess if that's their intent...it's working, because I recall Joe Heater, a great member and great guy saying he'd C&R the fish right into the guy's boat at 45mph. I couldn't stop laughing after reading that. People have really nothing better to do if they are harping on someone doing what is legal. All I know is some people fish LW religiously and come up empty handed...I am just trying to help some people learn the fishery -- but many people have had it up to their necks with my reports...I might lay low for a little while...sorry if that upsets anyone...just know I'll be out there in my aluminum boat doing my thing...and if you have the nerve to come up to my boat again...I will C&R that fish right into the side of your boat...then we'll call it even. I don't settle things on the internet, nor will I partake in a meaningless C&R conversation. I will say this, I have enough fish to last me some months now, and ALL my fish will be released...but that doesn't give anyone the right nor entitlement to belabor someone for doing something that is totally legal...what is ethical to one person may not be to another...let me ask you this -- If you eat meat... "livestock" and then come on here and give me a bad time about keeping some fish, you are a hipocrite. If I get any more demeaning emails or PM's you will be immediately suspended from this forum and Mr. Carey will have his way. Don't preach the C&R SRC on me man, I've caught over 450 cutthroat trout in that lake in under one year and I have only kept maybe 60. That doesn't even dent the population...even the SRC's are healthy in that lake...and don't tell me otherwise cause I fish it 250 days/year, so I think I would know. Oh, and if you do approach me man to man, I'd be more than willing to take you out and show you the ropes like I have many a members on this site. It's sour apples like you that ruin it for the rest of us...think about that one...how do you feel now? That's what I thought...

This should have been mentioned a long time ago, but someone had to say it. I think it is both prudent and important to point out that negative comments left behind on fishing reports are NOT acceptable. If an angler chooses to keep his or her fish, and this is within legal bounds (via the WDFW Rules Phamplet), then by all means they should NOT be ridiculed, or harrassed for keeping their fish. This goes for all reports, in all sections. If an angler does choose to keep fish, even up to his or her limit, no other angler needs to verbally (both in written and oral form) comment upon the report. One can hold beliefs that catch-and-release fishing is "moral" or the "correct" method, but that is best kept to ones own self. Negativity breeds hostile and unwarranted discussions and comments. It's very simple. Keep it positive or keep it to yourself.
