Two of us fished from about 8:30 to 11:30am. My second time ever at Beaver. It was cold and sunny. While hand launching the boat at the park, got a little worried hearing that no bank fishers were getting any bites. Trolled rapalas, no weights, up the lake quite aways, getting nothing. Switch to spinners. We found a few boats at the far end of the lake. Asked one how he was doing, who reported great, about six in with one five pounder. He was trolling a wet fly. This sounded promising! I let out some more line. Soon after my pole bent back, and I was sure I must have snagged bottom. But it turned out to be an 11 inch rainbow. So we started looping to pass the same spot, near the shore, at the far end away from the park and boat launch. Every time we passed this one place, we got hookups. It was so good, that we anchored and switched to spin casting our chartruese roostertails. The action was close to non-stop. My buddy started trying other lures, and they all worked -- rapala, krocs, mepps. We finally got hungry and satisfied enough to move away and troll back to the park while eating lunch. Landed and found out the bankers were still having no luck. Felt fortunate to have the boat! We ended up releasing 13 and keeping 7 rainbows, ranged from 9 to 11 inches. It was one of my best days fishing.
