WOO HOOO.... MY SEVEN MONTH STREAK OF LOST FISH FINALLY ENDS...
Sorry for yelling but several lost fish, branches, tin cans, bottles and boots later and I've hooked and landed my first 2 trout of 2008 and my first anything since last year.

During my unproductive fishing period I couldn't hook into any grass, weeds, or row boats let alone fish. But today I finally got to feel the rod bend. I know the lake was recently planted but it was still nice.

March 27th 5:45 PM decided that I must go fishing to heck with everything else.

The first fish hit after 15 minutes fishing and I was starting to wonder if I hadn't casted too far. Fish were surfacing about between 15 and 45 feet away from me and I had casted where no new planted fish will be for awhile. The first fish hit hard like many of the trout in the past had hit in this lake it was between 12 and 14 inches in length. The second fish was almost as big but didn't hit nearly as hard. Except for the initial hit which I initially figured I had lost the fish and the bait turned out to be fish on with no real fight until it reached the shoreline.

Weather was semi pleasant, it wasn't too cold, no wind and best of all no canoes. Today Friday March 28th was a different story as I had the wind, the cold, the threat of snow, the row team coach's boat and row team basically chewing up my line. Which leads me to a question I've asked before - aren't the boaters suppose to be a certain distance from the shore unless approaching the docks when preparing to depart the lake?

Congrats! I know the feeling.....I just went through the same thing at Beaver. Recently planted or not that violent rod bend is awesome!

Glad to hear you had a good time, I may be out there today for a bit. I couldn't help but reply to your statement regarding crew teams etc. Those people are most generaly pretty rude i find when on the lake. They are under the control of the boat rental offices building on the East side of the lake. I spoke with someone from their offices last year and was told that they try and be respectfull of all people on the water or the shoreline....etc etc. I informed them that they are failing in this area.
The girl on the phone was maybe 17, and she just giggled.

Congrats on ending your streak! Sounds like you even got some holdovers! Sweet! The crew people irritate me too!

Last year was flat out wierd fishing for me. If I caught a trout it was super small which isn't all bad but the guy next to would catch his/her limit and all of them would be double my poor solo's size. If I went salmon fishing and other were catching Salmon I was catching Dog Fish. If others were losing salmon I was still catching Dog Fish. If it was possible I'd still be catching dog fish while others catch cat fish. I couldn't lose a dog fish to save my life and last year I could easily lose Salmon without the greatest of ease.
