A quick after work outing from 5:30 to 7:45pm. The water temperature was 46-48 degrees at the surface with light wind making for a cold evening. There were a lot of chironomid shucks on the water and some adults hatching so I started out fishing a two pupa setup with a black and a brown pattern. Picked up one small trout (8-9") in about 10 feet of water on the black chironomid right off the bottom after trying several locations. Pulled up anchor and did a little trolling with a full sinking line while rowing to warm up. Hooked up on the trolling setup in 5 feet of water as I was about to reach shore to go home; another small trout that I let go.
Saw one other boat who didn't seem to be having any luck and did not see anyone fishing from shore. The one trout I took home was full of chironomid pupas (pretty small, probably size 16).
