went to boren at about 11:00 AM today. went straight to the boat launch and casted out about 20 yards. first fish came right off the bat before the bait was on the bottom, 9 incher. second was the biggest one at about 13 or so, fought really good, even pulled a little drag. nice red meat. third and forth were about 10 inches, and the last one about 9. limited out in about 20 minutes or less but didn't see anybody on the dock catch anything.

right now they are in the oven, i put a salmon rub on them. first time trying the rub hope its worth it. the weather was great mostly very little wind with a couple of gusts. sun was out bright. hopefully that last a few more days.

Awesome report! Where is the launch again? Is it that muddy area to the right of the main public fishing pier? I'm new to this lake...

How long was your leader to the chartreuse power eggs? Did you use one single egg or a couple?

One of those looks like a holdover?!

Great work again! Kudos!

yup 20 minutes. bet i made some people mad though, lol i didnt see anybody else catch anything.
its to the right of the main dock. the shallow area, trout tend to hold shall this time of year.. if the birds are diving there move on because the fish wont bite. the good thing is the birds wont stay if your in the area. so if you wait a couple of minutes they will start to bite again.

2 foot leader. 2 power eggs but do not bury the hook. keep it exposed, fish are dumb and they wont even notice the hook is there until its to late. but one of the most important thing is to use light line. i dont go above 4 pound test in water as clear as boren unless im bass fishing.

I'm more impressed with the fillets! I've got to get with one of you guys soon so yo can show me how to do this. I tried one time and just ruined the fish! So I BBQ them or broil them and pick out the bones.

That 13-incher is probably a holdover. The fish I showed you, last Friday when we were at the launch area, also had nice red meat. The other stockers I caught a few days later had white meat. Might head over there today or this weekend.

You're not a kiddin you did amazing! 20 min! wow! I remember last time I was there I fished the "gazebo deck" and the people on the dock, I'd say around 5 had none, and I had 2, but I had been there for 2 hours. You got some good tips and good skill...keep them reports comin!

Oh I forgot to add...tnj2222...do you find trolling a boat to be more productive, or fishing from shore - in your experience?

the only times i have taken a boat out on boren i always bass fish. so i guessi would have to say shore fishing for trout has been more productive.lol.
