I decided to try the Seep Lakes area of the potholes rather than fight the crowds at the March 1 opening lakes. Fishing was very poor, but the weather sure was nice on Mon. and Tues. Sunny and about 50. When I arrived at Heart Lk, I checked nearby Canal Lk, and the 2 just pulling their boat out had been fishing most of the day and had 0. The one guy said this was the first time he'd been skunked on this lake. I caught 3 small 8-10 inch. in Heart Lk. using marshmallow and worm while in camp. Lots of locals out fishing the area lakes with poor reports from everywhere. I spent the day fishing several walk in lakes that I usually do quite well with not a bite in 4 hrs. Wed. was cold and cloudy with snow starting at 10am. The ice went off these lakes only a week ago, so the water is very cold.
