Decided to try Fish Lake on this opening weekend. I have a new pontoon boat that I wanted to get wet for the first time as well.

I got to the lake about 10:00am and found about 20+ people fishing from the bank/docks and about 10 other watercraft on the lake as well.

Temperature was about 55° with a thin overcast sky and little or no wind. Water temperature was 51° at the top and ranging from 44° to 42° at 20'.

In about 4 hours on the lake I caught 13 fish. 5 good size Brookies (12" to 15") with the balance being last fall's fry plant (8" to 9"). I didn't catch any Tigers today.

My fish finder was showing pockets of fish at or near the bottom in several areas of the lake. Most of the fish that I caught were near the weed line/edge along the South and West edges of the lake. I caught all but one fish with a size 10 bronze Ice Cream Cone pattern using a 20' leader and floating line.

I noticed that most of the fish taken during my time on the lake were from the edges in 10' or less of water. The trollers in the middle were moving too fast for the fish in water this temperature.

All in all a good first time out.......for fishing that is. My new pontoon boat will need a new bladder in the left pontoon though. I had a small valve leak that necessitated that I pump it up every 20 minutes or so.
