Very peculiar fishing experience for me. My friends Paul and Matt convinced me to fish for a little while after school. My first cast with the F-4 green and red flatfish i used no weight. This made for an 8 foot cast, but before I started reeling in i saw a legit size trout bump it. I start reeling in real slow-like, and whap I hook this fish. Being the moron that I am, I try and swing the fish onto the dock before I have reeled enough line in and end up smacking this fat fighter of a 14 inch rainbow against the side of the dock. i try and pull it up but the blow jarred it off my lure. Another 40 minutes of fishing saw a couple of good size trout in, but I couldn't manage any more bites. The Boren stockers from a month ago have gotten pretty big.

Thanks for your report. Casting a F-4 flat fishing, very interesting! Glad that you had some action with the fish!

yup.. theres lots of food in that lake and they grow quick. next time try a rapala on a carolina rig and work the weed lines. it tears them up there.

I bet that fish was a holdover.

How do you carolina rig a rapala?

same way you carolina rig a worm, or you can use a splitshot to get the rapala deeper.

Interesting....I troll my rapala like I do a spoon, and I use a couple of split shot above the swivle and use about 3ft of leader. I didn't know there was a name for that! So why use a sinker? Do you let it hit bottom and then reel in slowly? I might need to take this to the forums.

I tried this today with no luck, granted I only stuck to it about 20 minutes or so. Did manage an eleven incher on the flatfish though
