I've been camped out at Banks Lake this past week and commuting to Rufus Woods. Checking out both sides of the river and exploring some new areas. Fished the middle net pen area several days and caught 20-30 of the usual 14-18 inch fish. Stopped by the net pens and saw one decent size fish had been caught about 5 lbs. Fishing wasn't near as good as my previous trip 3 weeks ago, but that was just insane fishing.

Nothing bigger than 4 lbs on this trip. Bank fished with my homemade spinner and caught fish everytime I went out. Fished some with a black maribou 1/4 oz jig and caught plenty on that too. Surprise of the day yesterday was a 3 lb smallmouth that grabbed the jig right at the shore as I reeled up. Anytime I wanted to catch a keeper for dinner/breakfast I put on a marshmallow and chunk of nightcrawler and almost instantly had a fish on. Caught one resident rainbow yesterday about 3 lbs, 19 inches. It fought twice as hard as the net pen fish and it's fins were all in prime condition. The net pen fish all have messed up fins, so it was good to see a prime looking fish. I took a pic of the 2 I kept yesterday, so I'll have to post a picture. The resident bow had huge eyes compared to the net pen triploid. Interesting differences.

Ticks are NASTY, pulled off at least 30 from my dog Rocky this week. One small rattler to add in there.

Seems the stories are true, as the winter goes away so do the bigger trips. Back in February we were releasing 5# fish all the time now they are good keepers.
Probably won't go back to Rufus until fall/ winter, guess I got spoiled.
