Headed out to Alice for the first time today. My first impression at the launch was disappointment, due to the amount of broken glass and trash lying around. The launch itself was nice. Spotted a raccoon hanging out on a private dock nearby. Rowed about 50 feet out from the launch at started trolling a chartreuse wedding ring with shrimp gel on it. 4 lb test with a 1/2 ounce trolling weight about 5 feet from my ring. Hooked up with a 8" planter in about 2 minutes. Let him go, added some more gel, started rowing again at hooked a nice 12" rainbow within 2 minutes. Changed direction and started to get hung up on the bottom growth. I found out later that the lake is pretty shallow. I was running about 9 feet down. Wind was blowing towards the launch about 5mph, and the water was really murky/ brown. Had a few more bites, and then the birds of prey showed up and the bitting stopped. Was on the lake for about 45 mintues and had C&R 3, with 6 other hits I couldn't get to. Trying to row, watch my daughter, watch the pole, is becoming increasingly difficult. She loves to reel those guys in though. I think I might have to break down and get a trolling motor. All in all it was a beautiful, sunny day. Only 2 other boats on the lake, met one gent fishing the shore. Great day to be outside. Good fishing but the overall water quality and overcrowding/ development of the shores puts it low on my list of favorites. Not sure if I'll be back for the lake, but I can't wait to try my luck on the river I passed getting there once the season opens up ;o)

If you're talking about "the river I passed" -- uhh, how do I put this...fishing sucks really, really bad there. It's the Raging River and all you'll hook are small 5-6" steelhead smolts so I'd say drive a little farther up and hook on some EHC's and fish the Snoqualmie Forks -- Middle being the best of the two, but the south can be really fun at exit 32 -- just don't waste your time on the Raging River -- that thing is worthless - my aunt has a home on the river and we fished it in the late 90's...all we did was kill little steelhead smolts by mistake trying to hook a 10" bow which there are none in that river. It holds some nice native steelhead though and some kings and silvers head up the Raging. I've fished LK. Alice over 50 times and that lake is going through a good algae bloom...stay away for sure...thanks for the FYI...KTK

kutthroatkilla, thanks for the info. I went to Lake Alice one day before gian did, I also noticed the river by the road like gian did and I even got out of the car to check it out. I thought it's a nice place to try my hand. So when I got back home, I tried all the maps (electronic maps) I have but none of them showed the river. Weird. Now I know it may look good from the road, but maybe not so good for an angler who is still at the stage of confidence build-up. :-)

Hey kutt, where do you park when you go to those rivers? I see 3 forks park and a lot of other side streets. Is there a particular place I can park without pissing someone off? I was also looking at a spot further down the Snoqualmie by tolt hill road. Any advice on that? It's closer to my home. thanks

Hey gain --

If I hit up the southfork I hit up exit 32 on i-90 and park underneath the bridge there. one of my buddies has a place on the middle fork up by tanner, wa. there is ample parking available, but a good way to do it is do a kayak float. to do this, set up one rig up river, and another down. they float down, then drive back up...use nymphs along the way...as flies are all you need...PM for more detail if needed. good luck! _K_T_K
