I took the wife and Lil' Ripper over to Potholes this last weekend. Friday was nice and sunny, almost 70 deg. Went out for the evening to Lind Coulee where the guys at the Mardon store said they were catching a lot of smaller eating sized fish. We trolled around for a while with no luck and Lil' Ripper started getting antsy so we switched to bass fishing. Tossed senkos up in some shallow bays where we had good success in the past. Nothing. The water is still kinda cold, 61, so the fish haven't moved into their traditional spawning areas yet. The folks at Mardon say they're about 3 weeks behind schedule. So I take wifey and son back to the resort and head up to Crab Creek. I was trolling a homemade silver smile bade setup with a 6" natural color gulp worm. I got one 21" spawned out male walleye right at dusk, 8:15. That was the only fish of the weekend. Saturday was over cast with a nice breeze/ chop on the water, but no fish. Sunday dawned clear but with a serious strong wind. We didn't get out on the water. I'll head back over in June.
