Today was the day to spend some time alone with the wifey and kids. We were already down at the in-laws and the daughter wanted to fish at Swafford today.
Arrived at about 7:30 am, wind was from the west at about 5-10 mph. Water temp is unknown, shouldn't be much different than Saturday which was right around 55F (+/- 1F).
Started off tossing out a nightcrawler and bobber. Caught one, but got super slow afterwards. Switched to bottom fishing with white powerbait and a nightcrawler. After an hour and a half, caught one more. Afterward...same scenario, got really slow. Decided to change things up a bit and tried out a watermelon patterned corky and a nightcrawler. Got another. This pattern of catch one....wait....change gear....catch one....wait, lasted throughout the day. Ended up with 4 rainbows and one perch.
Spent the day trying to figure out what would work from shore. Needless to say, I had plenty of time to yak at another fishermanm entertain the wife and kids, give my son some casting lessons...and even kick back and take a quick nap. Overall an enjoyable day of fishing...just not much catching.
