Downs is a great lake! We has a slow day probably caused by the fact that we fished from 3-7ish (damn those college classes), and not in the early morning which is the best time to hit Downs... 3 big tasty perch (8-11'') and one decent sized bass (+/- 14'')... the perch were very hungry, and one actually hit a very large soft worm that was being pulled along the bottom by my buddy... best way to fish the perch in just drop a good old home grown worm about a foot off the bottom near the lillys... the bass weren't really moving around to much, unlike the mornings and nights when its not to hard to get some action... great lake, great people... i hope they don't pull a Badger/Williams and kill off the good fish in favor of the trout... we have enough trout spots in the area leave this good spiney ray spot alone!!!

PS - Remember the bug spray and be ready to compete with the wind on most days!!!
