went to armstrong for the first time this year. dropped the canoe in the water and was fishing by 1730. we were kinda disappointed when we didn't get a fish within the first 15 minutes or so, lol. we ALWAYS have caught fish here with no problem.we trolled and still fished in various parts of the lake and even the ole honey hole only produced a few bites within and hour or so. there were about a half dozen other boats on the lake and it didn't look like anyone was knocking them dead by any means. after an hour and a half we decided to call it quits and troll on back to the ramp. i had my pole resting across the gunwhales of the canoe when WHAM!!! man, about lost my rod to a killer strike. i could tell right away it was a good sized fish. he was a real fighter and he made 3 or 4 runs that were really impressive. got him in the boat and was surprised. he weighed in at a little more than 3lbs. he was 17" long. one stout fish. actually, he was the largest fish I've seen come out of this lake. continued back to the ramp and headed home with the one fish. we were disappointed with the fishing here as it didn't produce like it usually does. don't get me wrong, i love this lake and it was a great evening on the water, but it may be a while before we come back and try again.
