bubba and i made good on our promise to come back this weekend with the leakin lizzard and do some fishing. it was our first time fishing here from a boat. we put in a bit late (0700) and started fishing on dead calm water. we started off using pop gear and wedding rings and only got a few strikes, but landed no fish. i started trolling power bait and sure enough got a fish right away. at 17" and a pound and a half, he was the smallest fish of the day. we covered a lot of ground considering we only had an electric motor, but we got the largest fish just past the pontoons by the boat ramp. it was an awesome weekend all around. the weather was scorching hot Saturday, but Sunday it was a bit milder. lots of boats on the water, but most of them seemed to be going a lot farther upriver. we limited out both days with the first 17 incher being the smallest and the largest measuring in at 22" and 6.4 pounds, a really nice fish by my standards. he was the last fish of the day and he put up a great fight before netting this fatty. getting a fish like that and the promise of even bigger ones will keep us coming back.
