Son Donald, his wife and I spent 4 nice days down in the Columbia Gorge enjoying the fantastic scenery, taking photos and checking out the fishing. We caught several nice smallmouth bass. My fish came mostly from the Klickitat portion of Umatilla Lake including Rock Creek which actually should have a name of it's own. It should be called "Rock Creek Lake." It is connected with Umatilla Lake by boat tunnel however so I guess it it is considered part of the reservoir. Best lures for me were lead head jigs and in line spinners. My brother and his wife came up from Oregon on Saturday to join in a nice fish fry.

The smallies ranged from about 11 inches up to about 3 pounds. There are several places where you can find shoreline access to the reservoirs. Good Luck!

Bob did you and your friends camp at rock creek back in may,I have been told that it has became very run down and that the indians have taken over and i should not go there alone to fish as i might not find my truck or trailer when i get done fishing,Do you think like that ,When i read your comment about when you fished there i cant wait to try it.Please give me your feed back as i allmost allways fish alone

I think it is true that the Indians have taken over and the site is run down but it does have a good launch ramp and a portable toilet. And, yes we camped there without any problems. Personally I woundn't worry about vandles but you never know for sure.
