I convinced my wife to take a fishing "picnic" with me on the lake for date night. We got there around 7pm, it was pretty chilly out tonight. Started out with a green bunny leech and missed a nice strike because I was eating. We trolled north around the point of the lake and I had another take but it got off. Finally on the northwest side I hooked in to 2 11" bows. The first one put up a great fight. Ended up with a couple more strikes and 1 more fish and we pulled the boat out at about 8:30. It was too cold to stick around any longer. I remember fishing this lake a long time ago and getting skunked consistently. I will definitely be back to try my luck again. The lake is less than 5 miles from my house.
I wasn't crazy about the guys fishing from the launch though. There is a public fishing dock which means there should be no reason people have to fish from the launch. It's small enough as it is. The fact that one of the guys was obnoxious enough to blare his music from his truck made it even worse. Too top it off some teens came by and one kid was so out of it (stoned or drunk or both) that he tripped over a guy's fishing rod and bit the dust hard. I just wish I didn't have to wade through a river of drunk rednecks every time I want to use a BOAT launch (not a fishing dock). Because this seems to be a reoccurring theme every time I go to a public fishing boat launch.
