Our day started out slow, trolling wedding rings and worms like we did last year.one or two small hits, but no fish. Then I remember talking to a retired fellow a couple of weeks ago at the boat launch. He said he did real well trolling the shallows with a Dick Nite.so I rigged one up and in a matter of 5 minutes I had 2 in the boat, 11-12".My wife soon wanted to take her wedding ring off and also fish a Dick Nite. She also started getting hits and netting fish. We were soon both catching nice Rainbows and cutthroat between 11-14".We even doubles on, not once but twice. The afternoon came and it was time to go in. around 1:30 pm. That was 4 hours fishing and we ended up with nine keepers .
Great day on Big lake, Nice to see the fish beginning to become active.
Good Luck and Tight Lines!

What a great report....I love this lake, I've fished it a few times for trout and it can be hit and miss....but as you've showed us, they're in there! I think all the LMB eat most of the trout fry so they're not as abundant as other lakes in the area. Good job

Right on!
I haven't fished Big Lake in a number of years...even though my best friend lives on the lake. I have a lot of memories catching (small) fish all over the lake.

If it's not too much to ask, what dick nite colors seemed to be working the best?

Hi Bscman:
Thanks for the comments, way cool!! Well to answer your question we took a half and half Dick Night and painted the tip of it with my wifes red fingernail polish and Wham !! that's what they wanted. Who say's womens make-up don't come in handy!!
She's already picking out some more colors for next weekend.Gotta love it.

Dan, great report. Sorry to pry, when you say half and half, is that brass and chrome with a red tip? Sorry to bug you with that. I've never fished big Lake but don't live that far from it and want to take a shot at it and was also wondering where the shallow area of the lake is that you fished? Thanks Dan. Great job.
