Hit Slim Shady for some trout fishing.
First off I was surprised at the crowd at the boat launch. Lots of shore fishermen clogging the ramp, and also lots of boats on the small lake. I started with a Gold Hildebrandt hoping for a big one but did not get a strike. Switched to Power bait and tried several spots without a nibble.
I Stepped off the mound, got myself together and threw out my trusty copper wee dick nite.
Like magic fish started biting. Unfortunately the size was not great. I caught 6. Released 3 and kept 3, all from 10-12 inches. Did not have to worry at all about the one over 14" rule. I am sure there are some bigger ones out there but I did not see any caught today. I was somewhat disappointed in this lake, but I did not stay that long. I keep thinking ahead to next weeks trip East.
The water was very clear. The people that live across from the access were playing really loud music for the first hour I was there. Right after they turned it off two eagles swooped down.
