Seeing that I live two miles away from Rotary Lake, I figured I would give this lake a shot tonight. I have heard that there are some nice largemouths in this body of water. I arrived around 8 pm, only to see that the parking lot was covered in a layer of window glass -- I'm not kidding here. There was probably glass from twenty windshields. That made me a little leary, but my car is a piece of junk, and I left my face plate at home. After a little walk along the greenway I arrived. I began fishing a top water rebel popp-r around some logs and fallen debre. When that didn't work, I switched over to some grubs with a jig head. That proved unsuccessful as well -- the bottom is now pretty covered in weeds and difficult to bottom fish. Finally, with only about a half hour left of daylight left, I tied on a liter, slip sinker and hook and baited up with pink power bait. Within the last half hour, I caught two (one 13 or so inch trout, and one fat perch), and missed two other hits. Had I fished in this manner the whole time, I could have easily caught and released many more, but like I said at the beginning, I wanted to hook into a nice bass. Trout fishing was only done in desperation so I didn't get skunked.

Aside from the apparent numerous break ins in the parking lot, there are a few other major issues with this pond. One, it is fished heavily, and the banks show how much so. The banks are lined with pop cans, styrofoam containers, water bottles, lots of food wrappers and food containers, etc. It is completely pitiful. I would not want to eat a fish out of this pond -- YUCK. Even more disturbing were the restrooms. I had to use the restroom, and without making this too disgusting, lets just say, somebody had done their business (and I mean the smelly one), and distributed it all around the outhouse. It was enough to make me feel ill. While their may be some decent fishing here, I will most likely make future visits few and far between. If you head out to this lake, dress yourself in a body condom, bring some disinfectant and peroxide.... yikes.
