I went out to Lk. Washington today looking for some SMB. I launched from the newly renovated boat launch at Magnuson park. The launches are very nice, 2 lanes going in, and 2 for pull out. Day pass is still 6 bucks, the docks are all new, the concrete launchway itself is all shiny new. There were even a couple of parks dept. dudes there to help you in and out.. (take note,, the launch is at a 50% less grade going in than before,, this according to the park rep) So you have to put vehicle in a ways farther.
I went to the docks North of NOAH, felt my way through here without any luck. I wound up in a little cove on South edge of that park around 100th Ave and Sand Point, (can't remember it's name.) I fished in here for awhile and caught two Squaw fish. I had never caught or seen one before so I was pretty jazzed when it hit. One was about 3 lbs 20" or so, the other not much smaller. Since I pretty much C&R, I was just as happy to see these fish as any other, so I called it a good day.
I was throwing crankbaits. Sunny skies, calm waters, did see a few other bass guys working the shoreline going North from Mangusson. A couple of Smokercrafts. I almost forgot... I did get high centered on a shallow spot . Luckily it was a soft mud bottom and my spinning through it didn't do any damage. It looked a little scary for a moment.
