Arrived at Clear Lake around 0600 am. Quite a few people launching their boats and had to wait probably 20 minutes to launch my pontoon. Morning started out with a slight breeze from the southwest around 5mph, slightly overcast but cleared off to partly cloudy by noon. Wind changed directions several times throughout the morning.
Anchored at the center of the lake and fished some new chironomids on a full sinking line working the water column from about sixty feet up to twelve or fifteen feet. No takers. Fished them under a strike indicator at about twelve to fifteen feet. No takers. There seemed to be a hatch of critters that resembled a #18 - #20 BWO and plenty of fish surfacing for them, however the smallest size I had was a #16 and they didn't appear interested.
By 0900 other boaters must have been getting bored as they kept driving in circles around the lake at a high rate of speed. I got bored as well and started trolling a woolly bugger fairly slowly on full sinking line. Hooked six fish, landed one. The wife and kids showed up around 130 and talked me into heading to Tanwax so the kids could play in the park. Left for Tanwax around 200 pm.
