Got to Colon Launch about 7:30 am and set the Trihull in the water,..my nephew Petey and I cruised towards Mercer Island killing time waiting for "D" to show at the dock,..while cruising around seen a ton of fish deep on the fishfinder and a lot of baitfish scattering everywhere,..headed back to the dock about 8am and picked up the homie and started to hit some of the docks along Rainier Ave,..not much going on,..fish real deep so we decided to play with some Perch,..found a nice spot along the shoreline and weighed anchor,..caught about 8 fish between the 3 of us the largest being 8",..released all and kept it moving,..beautiful day out ,..searching for Smallies,..up and down the shoreline,..docks,..structure,..you name it,..finally about 1pm after some fun cruisin in the sun we found a "Sweet Spot" on the Eastside where the conditions were perfect,..sandy shallow bottom with a distant weedline,..serious dropoffs,..rigged up some top water gear and attacked the weedline retrieving back to the shallow sand,..we all were using the same gear,..then "BAM" "FISH-ON",..Damien hooked up with a pissed off Smallie,..about 2lbs,..everyone was excited now,..then "BAM" it was my turn,..another mad Smallie about 2lbs,..these fish were great fighters,..we found our spot a little late in our day but nonetheless we found it,..it's nice and secluded and there wasn't another boat in sight,..so I think we got lucky,..we'll keep it ours for now,..all fish were C&R.
