I headed out to sawyer to day and even though it is pretty much in my back yard i have never fished it. i got out there at about 11 and immediately noticed all of the motor boats. i almost turned around to go to wilderness but i thought if i just stayed near shore my little 8ft boat should be okay. well the first waves came and it felt like i was on the ocean. i have no weight in the front of my boat so after the first one it would slap hard coming down on the next one. after the huge waves i went over to a opening of a cove thing were wakes were not allowed and decided to try to get a smallmouth. i was using a senko imitation and i had a swivel half way up the line. well my bait started to move and i thought my first smallmouth! well turns out i forgot to close the little snap on the swivel and a perch was hooked on it! never had that happen before. so i slowly started to make my way around the rim of the lake watching out for the wakes but they still got me and sent tackle all over the bottom of the boat and almost came into the boat. i was able to hook another perch and catch about 5 crappie and see a very large ugly trout or smallmouth jump. i saw one guy with some trout but everyone i talked to said it was slow today. also all the motor boats mysteriously disappeared between 4 and 6 (i dont know exactly when just looked up and they were all gone) i think i will stay away from this lake for a while.

oh yeah the water was still pretty cold and all of the crappie were caught on a home made jig.

Yep, that lake is a motorboat lake. Tons of activity.

I used to fish that lake quite a bit for largemouth bass and as I recall there was a morning speed limit until about 10:00AM. Has that changed?
