Ski and I hit Mayfield Saturday..just didn't want to change the date on the report. Water temp around 60 degrees. A little warmer in other areas. Met new Chapter member Bo Scott out on the lake.Met and educated a bunch of people about the fishery. Handed out some leaders and cards.We both are glad we did. Some misinformed and uninformed folks out there still! The 50 " sign is posted neatly at the information booth. The water was mostly clear.a few murky green areas. Lots of weeds forming. Saw a ton of Pikie-minnows. I think maybe this lake would be good for the Pikie minnow program. I'd do it. BIG Pikies out there and tons of them. Lots of trout and Koke fisherpersons out there too!!
Good day on the water. Around noonish or so Ski latched into our only fish of the day.Nice heavy, thick 39" x 18 Tiger. Notice the messed up gill plate on the right side of the head. Released and she shot off like a rocket! Saw a few fish. Like I said good day on the water with a great guy.
Oh yeah...saw a deer swimming across the lake. And a Tiger chasing about a 12 inch Pikie..The pikie shot across the top of the water. Looked like something in the cartoon Shark Tale where the shark is chasing the little fish...Never saw the Tiger...but it left a HUGE swirl and never saw a fish under attack move so fast..pretty cool.
