I attempted to go out on Lk. Wa. for some smallies, but when I got the boat loaded I saw I had a failed tailight... so I packed the float tube out to lk. Ballinger. I put in and headed straight out to the island...... but not before some rotten apple freakin' 6 y/o kid walked up to me and threw a handful of sand on my float tube,, right in front of my eyes. Then he talked smack to me for 5 minutes.
OK, I know I'm the adult,, but blankey blank... I told him he had rotten manners, etc. What's the matter with what we teach our kids these days?
OK, I digress,, I paddled out to the island, I threw some crainkbaits into the pads,, darn it, when I'm not catching bass within 15 minutes I get frustrated and I go straight to the worm and bobber troll, for the top water feeding trout.
I covered 90% of the lake. I saw two other boats, one of which landed a small trout. One I spoke with fishes here weekly and has not done all that good. One guy in a float tube, not looking too busy. Another boat full of bassers.
I didn't have a single bite, and I fished this lake HARD. At sunset I saw all the fingerling trout come out to jump, but we're talking 3" trout. The most activity was on the North end of the lake just 10' from shore.
There were prob. 15 people fishing from shore/dock, but I didn't notice if they landed anything.

Oh yeah... I meant to ask... the people on shore were fishing with bobbers that were lit up with some sort of battery operated light mechanism? Does anybody use this? How do you like it.
Damn that kid ticked me off!

I've been going out there lately and notice quite a few people in the evening using bobbers. They seem to be having more action than people fishing off the bottom. Myself , I like using lures but the dock gets to crowded so I usually end up going off the side. Come later it will be a challenge just to find parking and or dealing with the dock jumpers, good luck next time out

I am out there at least twice a week. Love this lake! Even if I don't get a bite, I always have the resident Bald Eagles that give plenty of entertainment. As for the bobbers that glow. they work better in the late summer.

FISH ON PEOPLE!
