15 rainbows and a few cutthroat today for my partner and I while fishing from 9:00 to 2:00. Sun was high and bright, winds were calm, with temps in mid-80s. Surface water temp 70. Those caught were evenly split between chironomids under indicators in shallow water and chironomids and nymphs fished vertically with sink lines in deep water. The larger fish were out deep, ranging from 15-18" but nothing bigger. Several smaller, 9-12" fish caught in the southern shallows. Despite our best efforts, we could not identify one pattern that would consistently catch fish. We got fish on black/silver and tan/brown chironomids, still water nymphs, damsel nymphs, skip nymphs, blood worms, hares ears and dragon flies, but in every case, these patterns would get a couple then quit working all together. Additionally, we got more bumps and taps today than we did solid takes. Hot, bright, calm days will do that, though.
