My son and I went out to Lake Sammamish about 1100 Friday. The day didn't start to well as the ignition switch on the boat malfunctioned. We used our trolling motor to go over to the cove just S of the launch and anchored up. We caught a couple of dinky perch and pumpkinseeds, but we fixed the switch! So we pulled anchor and headed to the NE corner of the lake where we anchored in about 15 feet of water. The action was pretty much non stop on 7 to 12 inch perch. We started out using worms but switched to perch meat, which resulted in larger fish. We caught at least 50 but kept about 25 as that's all about I'm interested in cleaning. There unfortunately were many squawfish. These were bonked and donated to the eagles, who put on a great show dodging the jet skis to retrieve their meals. We called it quits about 1700. The day was sunny with a nice N wind which kept the heat bearable. Water temp was 66 degrees.

brownbomber,

Squawfish are sort of a native sucker that eats a lot of salmon fingerlings so I didn't feel bad about bonking them. They have a bounty program on them down on the Columbia River and some some guys make decent bucks fishing for them.

My son is 22 and he loves fishing and out fishing his dad.

Sorry about the late response. When the weather is this good I have to go outside and play!

Bruce, were you using floats/bobbers?

Did you use any jigs and if so, what colors?

smokum,

We were about one or two "cranks" off the bottom. We had about a six inch leader below our sinkers. No jigs, just hook and worm or perch meat. I think jigs would work though, especially if they were sweetened with bait.
