First time on Long lake. I heard and read it holds some nice crappie. And it only took a couple of hours to locate them. They are in pre-spawn. I was VERY impressed with the quality! My fiance' and I both caught 15" crappie. I have been crappie fishing for about 25yrs in AZ. And where I come from that is a VERY respectable fish. They were mostly caught in 5-8ft of water with a couple coming within a foot or so of the surface to eat it. I would consider the water clear because we could see our jigs in 5+ ft of water. We caught a total of 13. And only one was under 13". And one nice 2+ pound smallie and two perch. I do not keep any bass. So that one went back. I'm sure we would have done better but it was our good deed day. We helped a stranded ski boat by towing them about 2 miles back to Nine Mile. And we were about out of gas so we decided to call it a day. The water temp was between 64 and 68 degrees. BTW..... I'm hearing that people don't eat the fish from Long Lake? Any feedback would be great! Crappies Forever!!!

I love bass fishing as well. But I don't eat the bass. They all get released. And there are only one or two fresh water fish as good to eat as crappie. And that's perch and waleye. We caught these crappie fishing jigs in downed trees.

We were using white for the most part. I mainly use tubes for verticle jigging and curly tails for casting.
