I can tell by the yellow eyes and discoloration of their bodies that all three of those bass are dead or very close to expiring. If you want to keep fish inside the slot limit and risk getting a fine, that's up to you. Please don't feel the need to lie about releasing them alive.

So im pretty sure that fish was legal, unless theres something i dont know about....?

7/2/2008 2:20:00 PMGood fishin JT, I like reading your reports. you seem to post more than anyone else for Lake Samm so I guess that kinda makes you one of the "Lake Samm Forum Experts" :-) , Your killing me though.... I drive by Lake Samm twice a day. One day Im gonna drive off the road while Im looking to see who is out on the lake and where the boats are. Guess I need to find a place to park the boat while Im at work so that I can drop in for a few hours on the way home.

7/2/2008 11:17:00 PMJT gotta take your word for it, but in the future I would suggest releasing the fish immediately so their not getting drug around the lake on a stringer all day, even if they swam away fine, chances are their survival rate is low based on the condition they appear to be in. Good job gettin into the fish though, but to keep the fishing good for years to come take pics right away and release them,

7/5/2008 7:16:00 AMWow, all you sesitive bass guys, so worried about keeping a few bass. I agree if you are going to keep them then put em on a stringer and eat the tasty little buggers, and if not then take a picture and turn em loose. There is a good reason though that the smallmouth limit is now 10, and that is that if there are too many smaller fish, it stunts the growth of the population. Therefore I say keep the smaller ones and cook em, just as good as a perch really. And release the big ones, just my .02.

In the pic with two fish the one on the left looks like its back is curving the wrong way and both fish look dead in the eyes. The one fish on the right is dead but the posted did already say it was and thats fine.
On another note...To call a person with so much knowledge as Tag an @$$ on the forum is probably the most disrespectful thing you can do. He does nothing but offer help and kind words to every single person that has ever asked him a question in the bass community. He is a great mentor and an outstanding angler.
