Went out to American Lake the other weekend. Went with a buddy of mine and his 10 year old daughter. We went out from Bills boat shop at around 6am.
We got set up with a wedding ring with some maggots, had 3 polls trolling off the back of the boat. Didn't have much luck, for the first hour or so then Then my buddies daughter hooked a good sized rainbow, the sucker jumped and threw the hook. So then we had the conversation with her about setting the hook next time. Didn't have any luck the rest of the time trolling. But we were right next to another boat when he hooked a decent sized kokanee, said he was using white corn.
We decided to get some action so we went over and went for some bass. We started throwing worms and you couldn't keep the line in the water long enough before a rock bass would take the bait, We probably boated about 10-15 little guys between the 3 of us. We had a family of racoons on the edge of the lake sitting and watching us.
Right about quitting time my buddy caught what looked to be a small mouth bass maybe a rock bass, this sucker didn't miss any meals. Real big and Fat. That motivated us to keep going a little bit longer so we hit the other side of the lake caught a few decent sized perch.
The lake was really busy lots of boats,
All fish were CNR
