It looked like a good day for fishing so I hit Stevens after work. Launched around 7 and fished until dark (10-ish). For some reason, the bass just weren't biting. I hit three of my favorite spots and didn't catch squat. On the way back to the boat launch, I decided to slow down and troll a 5" curly tail grub (cinnamon w/black flake) + 1/8 oz screw-in bullet weight. Much to my surprise, I caught a couple of chunky little beasties! They both weighed about 2 lbs and fought very well for such small fish. That's NOT how I usually fish plastic lures, but hey, I'm open to new things. It was actually kind of fun. Both of the smallies slammed the crap out of it -- definitely not subtle!
I've had better days but at least I didn't get skunked...
