I went out to Williams lake today with a friend that is just starting to fly fish. We got on the lake about 8:00am or so. The water was calm and about 71°. There was no real surface activity all day. My finder was marking the fish at about 20' or so.

We began by dragging Stayner Ducktails around the weed line near the launch. We hooked up with two Rainbows almost immediately. We worked our way out to the SW drop-off and fished there for about 3 hours.

We caught about 15 fish between us with 4 being cutthroats. The largest was about 22" and smallest was about 14". The Ducktails worked great so we didn't try anything else.

He got a good taste of fly fishing and he already wants to go again.
