Although angle has good planter trout fishing almost all year long it still doesn't compare to the excellent kokanee fishing this lake provides. I have fished this lake since i was young and it has always been good but that was until i accidentally caught a kokanee while perch fishing. That was the end of how i previously viewed this lake.

Once i hooked that first fish we instantly planed on coming back and we did with all our kokanee gear and since then it has been producing the best kokanee fishing on the west side and maybe even a lot of the east side for us.

Lots of 14" fish to be caught that are nice and plump but lately we have been catching a lot of fish in the 16-18 inch range which is pretty much extinct in most of the "kokanee lakes" that we all know or everyone else knows. Nice crome slabs. And who would have thought being 1 minute from one of the most busiest airports in the country.

Standard setup with the wedding rings but leave the ford fenders/popgear at home you don't need them. Single wedding ring in purple/orange/cromered/and chrome orange with maggots with or without a 3-4 inch brass or half/half brass/chrome flasher/dodger has been killing them. Parallel the shoreline in about 40ft of water and you will see the schools pop up at about 20-25 ft. Set the rigger in that zone, troll about the same speed as you would for bows and get ready.

Best spots have been in front of the fishing doc and the se side of the lake BEFORE the angle where the bottom comes up from 50-30 quite suddenly. Every once in a while we will hookup while crossing the lake but most are along the shoreline. But they are so easy to find you can simply motor the whole lake with your electronics on and quickly locate them first.

Also i have never caught kokanee consistently before may 15th. (i keep records) and the best fishing has always been first week in June through the end of July, probably cause of prespawn conditions and i switch to the salt mid July august. So i haven't really got a lot on record for later in the year, into fall. But as most lakes go, i would say angle follows the same pattern and you can expect good kokanee fishing up into October.

These fish are spastic so like i posted before we switch out the big treble or single hook and replace them with very tiny size 10-12 trebles. No more than about 1/3 of an inch in size. This really really helped with the landing percentage, especially on the more livid fish. It prevented the ripping up of the kokanee's jaw like the single hooks can do, also nice if you like to catch and release. (remember bait rule) And you don't have to tip your wedding ring with real bait to catch them. Plastic maggots LOL worked well also. If you CnR i highly suggest a rubber net because these fish just don't stop kicking and tear them selves up petty well in a plastic net. If you like to jig...swedish pimple in purple, kokanee killer mini jigs.

Good Luck
FFF
