Launched at Magnuson for the first time. Immediately upon putting the boat in the water, it starts pouring. At least fish may get active lol. We headed north and fished the deeper docks. There are a lot of thick weeds in these parts. I fished off the deep end and my friend fished the shallower end. I decided to employ the drop shot technique for the first time. We started out getting lots of little hits, until I landed something. Ended up bringing in about a 12" perch. That's my best for that fish type lol.
Further up north, I drop a cast down the line of a dock, and bring it in slowly. I get a good bite and set the hook. My heart gets pounding because I'm ready for the first smallie of the night, but no. It was a good size squaw fish. Cut the gills, and released to the carnivores. Complete let down, but my first time catching one of those.
Throughout the evening, we each caught one smallie. My friend hooked into a beastly smallmouth at one point, but the thing took him straight down into the weeds, and snapped the line. Probably a real good sized fish.
On the way back we trolled cranks. I pulled in another squaw fish, and let my boat draw first blood on this one.
Besides that, we had a good time in the rain. Be back Saturday!
