I understand that while I was out of state a cold front moved through on Tuesday, so fishing on Thursday was expected to be tough. Having never fished Long before, I also expected a learning curve, but wow, it was tough.

We launched at the DNR and spot fished from Tum Tum to the dam. The two of us each lost a very nice LMB when we first hit the the water, and we saw a very nice LMB near the pad edges, plus a good SMB near the dam, but other wise it was a day of dinks and trash fish.

We did hit one LMB about 16" in the pads, lost a couple that did not take well, caught probably 2 or 3 dozen SMB up to 10", a couple of perch that were snagged by accident, and caught and promptly killed three Pikeminnow (just seems wrong to call them that).

We noted that the water surface temperature ranged from a low of 68 degrees in the morning to a high of 78 degrees in mid afternoon in the shallow pads. We also noted that the water was very clear. Also noted was that no Crappie or Blue Gill (or other sunfish) were observed.
