Had three generations of the family on the boat (My father, My Son and Myself) today in search of some large Lk Wash Cutts. The wind was a pain in the A$$ and made for some rough conditions and possibly contributed to some unique issues we ran into today. I normally run 6lb Flourocarbon leader to my lures and have not had any issues until today. Twice we had fish bust the leader on the initial strike, today's fish hit our offerings very hard. I guess it's time to change to 8lb or 10lb leader and/or loosen the clip tension. In all we boated 5 Cutts and 2 Jack Sockeye (Kokanee), lost one large fish due to a netting error on my part and and lost 2 others during the fight. The Cutts ranged from 14" to 19" and the Jacks were 10" and 12" each. We were fishing the North end of the Lake to avoid the Seafair Traffic and kept our offerings between 40' and 60' down. Again, all the Cutts were loaded with 1" Stickle Back and were especially feisty once hooked. Next time out we'll be focusing on catching a mess of large perch, I'm sure they have fattened up by now and are in prime condition.

Good job fishing with a of the wind out there. I find that fish hit harder in rougher water. Some say they are more aggresive in rougher water. Good going and great to see all 3 of you enjoying what LW has to offer.

Heard there's some huge perch in LW . I've got them up to 13" but heard there are even larger ones. I've always stick to the I-90 Bellevue side. Is there a better place?? And how deep are ya digging? Oh yeah......nice cutts!!

This time of the year all I do is fish the deep water side of the weedline (typically 16' to 20') and use a good sized tube jig (2" to 2.5") tipped with worm or perchmeat. If you are consistantly snagging weeds your too shallow. Weeds beds next to a drop-off are prime locations, finding them is the fun part of fishing, and they can be found nearly everywhere on Lake Washington. I like the Seward Park and Leschi areas. Once you find a spot you'll want to put 2 anchors down to keep the boat over the sweet spot. When you catch a few, it seems the entire lake population of perch flock to your spot and it's non stop action. I personally don't let perch smaller than 9" on board unless they are going to be used for bait. Warning, if you use straight bait, you'll end up spending more time removing swallowed hooks than fishing.
