I hit Pine Lake for the first time this year with fishingmachine, fishing dropshots for smallmouth. Only my second time working a dropshot for longer than five minutes. We used WCCT Dropshot Worms and I caught one smallie and fishingmachine caught two. Both were about 10".

But the really fun part was trying not to die. Today was the hardest I've ever seen it rain while fishing. It was coming down so hard that we couldn't see the fishing pier or the opposite shore from about 250 yards away. Combine that with fishingmachine's leaky Livingston, a smoking battery and freezing temperatures and we had a recipe for disaster. We toughed it out for about four hours, then it got dark. Somehow we made it back to the launch with no problem. A pretty sweet day, because I got my PB smallie (yes, ten whole inches) working a new lake and a new rig that I'd never tried for bass before.
