Got a call from a friend today that wanted to go fishing at his favorite spot so decided to meet up with him. When we got there I started cranking with a perch colored jointed shad rap and the only thing I managed to hook into were allot of weeds but, I did manage hooking into a pretty good sized perch(ask BrownBomber I'm really known for doing that from time to time............LOL) Anyway we decided to hit the dock and I noticed it was to deep to use a crank bait, so I decided to rig up a drop-shot which I am not a big fan of nor have I ever caught anything using it but I had no choice. Rigged up the drop-shot using a purple 5 inch senko and dropped it down along the dock. While I am complaining to my friend about this method of fishing I feel a subtle tug on my pole not even five minutes after I dropped it set the hook and the fight was on!! got the fish up and it looked to be about a 2lb smallie before it decided to spit my offset hook back at me. This time I put on a brown 5 inch senko and dropped it down ten minutes later I felt that little tug again and bam fish on again it felt like it was a monster. Got this on the dock and it looked like it only weighed about a pound but it was a nice fighter. It wasn't a bad trip out and my feeling about drop-shotting has changed,(SORRY BB) but I am still a bigger fan of crank-baits and swim-baits but if the situation calls for drop-shotting then I won't be so apprehensive about using all in all a good day. TIGHT LINES EVERYONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
