We set out to get some decent sized fish on Saturday, we were tired of hauling in the little guys (even though it is a gas). We decided to try the deeper holes at the south end of the lake. If you look at the photo in my previous post you can see the position of the weeds. We have been fishing in the shallow weeds and we decided to move farther north (north to the right) and see if we could get bigger fish a little deeper. There are several deeper holes (in the photo...in the upper right) next to the drop off (again, in the photo on the far right) that proved to be good homes for the big guys.

We caught several larger (10+) perch in a little hole, saw another set of Lake Boys hooting and hollering over a couple large ones. We tried everything in the tackle box including lures that my wife's father used 40+ years ago. I had luck with flashing lures, some with feathers or fuzz. My buddy tried to kill them with floaters and sinking Rapala's with little luck. When he switched to a flasher he started catching.

I have a cabin on the lake, and the my sweet wife Cathie delivered cheese sammies and apples at mid-day, we fished for 7 hours. The fish came faster as the sun went down, but had to leave as she had a feast prepared at about 7.

Light wind, bright sun, 70's, few boats and PWC.
