I fished Lake Sixteen from 5:30 pm till about 7:15 pm. Water temp was 64.1 degrees F, Calm, no wind, cloudy. Fish rising and jumping at the north end of the lake. I trolled flies near the top (no floating line) and also trolled a green frog flat fish which I received two light bites on but no hook ups. I believe as the water cools a bit more the trout will begin biting. I also believe if you fished this area with a floating line and a mosquito type fly, you would be successful. I just haven't invested in a floating line in all my 30 years of fly fishing. I've always fished flies below the surface. I think I need a floating line! Any, it was a nice few hours on the water with no one else present.

I fished lake sisteen (morning bite) a couple of weeks ago and had no luck with flys, spoons, jigs, and PB...... I gave up after 3 hours and figured I'll try it again as it cools down. If you buy some floating line and it works please post it. Steve .... BTW I tried Big Lake and it wasn't much better.

Nice report Dave. I haven't been out on local lakes (skagit/whatcom) for a while now. It's good to see a solid report....
If I can just get a couple quick salmon in the rivers, back on the lakes I'll be. best of luck...(maybe we could get out sometime this fall)

Dave, If you are going to use a floating line then you need to just cast to rising fish with a dry fly or an emerger. Otherwise stick with your sink tip. LS

Hey guys, Thanks for the tips and info. I will go again this next set of days off which are Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday. I will submit a report afterward. I like 16. Its quiet, not a bunch of houses around it, and I know there are a lot of fish in it. I hope the bite starts in these lakes sometime soon. The last 2 times on this lake there has been no one else there. I will also fish area 8-2 and 9 this set of days off for silvers. I hope they are in.
