Another nearly bassless day on Lk Wa... I've been there every Saturday for the past month with only a boatload of perch to show for it. I did discover that perch love those Yamamoto glow-in-the-dark grubs though last weekend while fishing well into the night.
As I am sure all of you Westsiders noticed the weather was pretty droll and quite wet. The water on the lake was pleasantly calm and nearly devoid of boaters (with the exception of two clowns going full throttle under I-90 and a seaplane landing near me.) The water was much warmer than the ambient air, I'm guessing it is probably still hovering in the upper-mid 60's.
I should have given up on the plastics and went back to hard baits, but the perch were frequent enough that it still made it mildly enjoyable. Next weekend I'll have to stick to my guns and keep with the hard baits and swimmers. I concentrated on depths from 10' to 20' on the ends of some of the deeper docks before resigning to perch fishing in the shallower regions in between them.
Oh well... better luck next weekend.
