Hit the water @ 6:45 AM with BassFanatic,..cold,..windy and drizzling,..water was very choppy and we couldn't even cruise full throttle because of the waves,..allot of white-caps,..got 2 our spot and started Cranking,..BF was in a slump so he was very anxious 2 hook-on,..no sooner that we start chuckin our Cranks,..BF hooks on,..bout time,..even though it was a Perch,..it didn't matter,..his slump was now over! A few minutes later BF hooks another Perch,..at this point he doesn't even care what he catches,..LOL,..we head 2 the next spot and I get a Bronzie Dink about 1 pound,..now BF is really in the Bassin mode,..he's making every cast count and waiting for that Smallie 2 strike,..nothing for about 45 minutes,..we head 2 another spot and we're still chuckin the same Cranks,..I nail another Smallie a bit over 1 pound,..still Dinks but at least we're in fish,..getting alot of strikes by now but we both know they're just Perch,..tap-tap-tap,..Smallies hit way different even the Dinks,..we're getting close 2 I-90 by now and we hit some docks before heading under the bridge,..the wind is kicking something fierce near the bridge and it takes everything my Minnkota has to even keep us from slamming the docks,..we need 2 get outta there but I figure 1 more cast,..the troller is on 5 and BF is trying 2 keep us steady,..I toss 2 the corner of a dock about 25 feet from the boat,..my Crank hits the water and starts 2 slowly sink,..before I can even take up the slack on my line and start my retrieve a Smallie takes the lure,..I didn't even know she had the bait,..I start 2 reel up and I think I have a snag,..battling weeds all day and this is what I thought it was,..I pull back and reel up and the Bronzie shows herself,..Big Fish,..jumped out the water and threw the treble,..I didn't even have time 2 set the hook!!! Sad,..but definitely the coolest thing to see,.I've missed Bass the last 2 times out so I was determined today 2 make sure and get a good hook-set,..this one was a bit different though,..caught me by surprise,..it's all good though and I'm still on the Smallies so no worries! Might be out again on Friday,...!!!
