Me and a buddy of mine hit Lake WA for the first time on Sunday. We were looking for perch. We launched from the Mercer Island boat launch after paying the parking Nazis their fee for letting my truck sit there all day.
We motored up to the north end of the island, found the weeds, and found the perch. The first couple were caught with nightcrawlers on a dropshot rig, but after that, it was perch meat all the way. We kept one perch for every six or seven that we caught - it was great! The weather was also very accommodating - for the most part it was very light wind (important for my little 12 foot aluminum boat - it doesn't like big waves) and very little rain.
Anyway, we ended up keeping 40 perch, all over 9 inches (biggest was only around 11 inches), and all very eatable. Great day on the water, talking smack with my buddy and hauling in hungry perch!
