Hey All,
Welp' I got to make it out on the water again. Went out today after my first shift, (around 9:45am) stay'd out til' 11:45am er so. I caught 5 really nice perch off the dock today! The weather wasn't all that favorable.. mid 50's & overcast with a constant drizzle of rain, & a fairly consistent wind from the East; (Work'd out alright since I was castin' with it ; ) Anyhow, started out with the same double-hook orange-bead rig with the silver spinner, caught 3 very nice perch that ended up on the stringer a 9", 12" & one of the biggest I have yet to catch, it was 14-1/2" to 15" & about 2-1/2" Thick! A I was reelin' him in a HUGE Large-mouth Bass follow'd steadily side-by-side with it right up to the dock & hung out next to it while it was on the stringer with the other 3! The bass had to be 20+ inches... I threw a lot of different plugs/baits at it but it wouldn't bite a thing... quite a fear-less fish. I'm thinkin' that huge perch & the Bass may have school'd together, as they probably shared similar diets at that size... haha, when I open's the perch's mouth to get the hook back, haha there was about 2" of rubber-worm stickin' out of it's throat, pulled it out & it was about a 5-1/2" long piece of a Dark-green/black speck (Pumpkinseed color???) bass-worm hahahah... I caught quite a few more 5" to 8" perch as well. (using that double-hook right tagged with 3/4" to 1" bits of night-crawler. Hook'd into a small perch & suddenly it felt like something else "hooked" on to him haha.. popped my line at the swivel... After that I didn't have much luck for the next 15-20 minutes using a bare hook & either bits of work or cut bait. So I put on a small hot-pink jig-head & a bright neon-orange twirl-tail jig, & tagged that with a small piece of cut-bait, & the fish were back on! (I guess perch like to have a lil' bit of color or flash to their meals....) Anyhow, kept two more 9" to 10" perch & went home with those 5 for lunch, gutted em' & smoked with on the top-rack grill of the grill with a mixture of garlic-salt & butter inside the stomach cavities... They ended up amazing.
Not sure when I'll have time to head out to the lake again, as the weather's gettin' chilly/wet & free-time never seems to hang around much haha... But the next time I'm out I'll leave another report. Later all.
